Pengarah Ridley Scott menyuarakan pandangannya yang francais filem Alien sepatutnya boleh mencapai tahap sama sepertimana dicapai filem Star Trek dan Star Wars.
Ridley Scott dipetik sebagai berkata :
“There’s no reason why Alien should now not be on the same level for fans as Star Trek and Star Wars. So I think the next step as to where we go is, do we sustain the Alien (series) with the evolution of the beast or do we reinvent something else? I think you need to have an evolution on this famous beast because he’s the best monster ever, really.”
Sebagai perbandingan, filem Star Wars: The Last Jedi baru-baru ini melepasi rekod kutipan box office antarabangsa sebanyak USD1 billion, dengan unjuran terakhir dijangka boleh mencecah sehingga USD1.5 billion. Alien: Covenant, hanya merekodkan kutipan USD240 juta, dengan keseluruhan francais filem Alien mencatatkan rekod kutipan keseluruhan sebanyak USD1.5 billion.
Apabila ditanya sama ada dia akan menghasilkan lagi filem Alien, ini jawapan yang diberikan :
“I would like to; they’re crazy if they don’t. David is a fantastic villain. I love what (Michael Fassbender) did in Covenant. But it’s f—ing hard, dude. We lifted Alien out of a ditch and made Prometheus.”
Sebagai rekod, status francais filem Alien masih lagi dalam tandatanya selepas penjualan aset perfileman 20th Century Fox kepada The Walt Disney Company tahun lepas.
